Meet the Team: Lucas Smith

Get to know another member of team Sterling in our next ‘Meet the Team’ installment

Next up is our Purchase Ledger Clerk, Lucas Smith…

1. Can you describe your role and key responsibilities at Sterling Properties?
I am a Purchase Ledger Clerk which involves ensuring that all of the invoices submitted by our suppliers are promptly given to the correct people for authorisation, raised for payment and then paid on time. This often involves communicating with different people and departments within the business to understand any issues and get these rectified as soon as possible. These invoices can cover a wide range of things, from repairs done by tradespeople, utilities, service charge and everything in-between! The typical working day is often very dynamic and differs from day-to-day and it definitely keeps you on your toes!

2. What does the concept of the ‘Sterling difference’ mean to you?
To me, the ‘Sterling difference’ means putting our tenants, suppliers, and landlords at the forefront of everything that we do. We understand that all of these people are the core of the business and it is by putting their needs and wants first that Sterling has grown to the incredible business that it is today.

3. What do you enjoy the most about your role at Sterling?
Personally, I find that Sterling is an incredibly warming and friendly company and there’s a real closeness between colleagues and departments. I enjoy coming to work each day and seeing what new challenges await me. I also feel that our hard work and determination is celebrated often which goes a long way for team morale.

4. How do you like to spend your time when you’re not working?
Typically when I’m not at work I like to spend time catching up with friends, staying active and getting some fresh air, as well as going to see my favourite music artists!

5. Can you share an interesting or unusual fact about yourself?
Before I ended up at Sterling I was a stone’s throw away from going to University to study Psychology or Law… but I’m more than happy with the decision I made!

6. If you could have dinner with any person, (dead or alive), who would it be and why?
I would choose to have dinner with Vincent Van Gogh – largely because I’d love for him to know how admired and respected he is in the modern day despite the fact that he only ever sold one piece of art whilst he was alive!
